Chef Byron Gomez has spent the last 13 years honing his skills at some of the most pristine restaurants in New York City and the world. He has trained and worked under some of the best chefs and mentors in the industry, such as Daniel Boulud, Ronny Emborg, Gavin Kaysen and Daniel Humm. Despite not having any formal culinary education, Byron worked hard to be self taught and work among very talented individuals. Working his way up through Michelin ranked restaurants in New York starting at Café Boulud, the esteemed classical French One Star Michelin restaurant, which gave Byron his first glimpse into the art of fine dining. Hard work and passion motivated Byron to then move on to the Two Star Michelin restaurant Atera, featuring a modern Nordic cuisine tasting menu.
Byron then became intrigued with the idea of developing his skills with a Three Star Michelin restaurant, the biggest award any chef world wide can achieve. He set his sights on Eleven Madison Park, and he quickly advanced through the ranks in the kitchen through hard work and impeccable leadership skills, eventually becoming Sous Chef at the esteemed restaurant. In 2017/2018, Eleven Madison Park won Top Restaurant in the World by San Pellagrino in their list of World’s 50 Best Restaurants. After receiving this incredible honor, Byron decided to spend the next 1 1/2 years traveling with the mobile EMP team leading popup restaurants in the prestigious culinary destinations of Hamptons, NY and Aspen, CO. After spending the winter in Aspen, Byron decided to leave his home of New York City and put down roots in the Rocky Mountain resort town, becoming the Executive Chef at 7908 in the Spring of 2019.
